Cincinnati wine shop using technology to help customers discover new bottles

“With each delivery, our hope is we’ll be able to get some feedback from the consumer and fine-tune the next delivery. Eventually we’ll send them wines that are almost guaranteed to be something they like.” – David Lazarus

Friday February 23; A Trip Through Italy
For the end of Italian wine month we will take a tour of the better known wine regions of Italy. We will take six different wines from at least four different regions. These will all be red wines and Chef Jan will have a special selection of Italian appetizers to complement the wines. Join us as we move toward spring.

Friday March 2nd; Comparison of New World Reds
This month we will taste three different varietals each from two different new world countries; America, Australia, South America. The purpose of this tasting is to see if you can taste the difference in the “terroir” or do you think it is the wine maker and their differing styles. Join us and see for yourself. Plus we will have our extra pour, if you choose to continue the tasting. Chef Jan will have another of her great hearty appetizer spreads.

Friday March 9th; Cotes du Rhone Reds & Whites
We will travel to the southern Rhone for this weeks tasting and taste two whites and four reds. The whites will be Marsanne / Rousanne blends, while the reds will be Grenache dominant blends. These are reasonably priced wines that will complement a meal or can be enjoyed without food. We will offer an extra pour for those of you who want to continue the tasting. Chef Jan will serve up a nice selection of hearty appetizers so you can judge for yourself.

Friday March 16th; Roses’, Summer is Coming
Maybe we are jumping the gun, but it makes us feel good to dream, so we will sample six roses’. Who knows it may even be warm, either way, we will taste some great new roses’ and imagine ourselves in a warm place. We will offer an extra pour for those of you who want to continue the tasting. Chef Jan will of course serve up a rose’ friendly sampler of heavy appetizers.

Friday March 23rd; By the Glass Plus Tasty Tidbits
While Jan and I are away on vacation, we will change things up and make it easy on our volunteer helpers. We will offer four wines by the glass, (two White and two Red) and a nice spread of hearty appetizers. You can choose two glasses total of any of these wines and enjoy the food for $15. If none of the wines appeal to you, choose any bottle in the store and pay retail (corkage waived this week), and if you want food that’s just $5. Thank you for your continued support and we hope you will enjoy this experiment.

Friday March 30th; It’s All Greek
It’s been a while since we tasted Greek wines, so this week we will taste six Greek wines new to the store. Although the grape names are difficult to pronounce the wines are great. Make plans to join us and check them out. We will offer an extra pour for those of you who want to continue the tasting. Chef Jan will have a Greek inspired selection of hearty appetizers to complement the wines.

Our Mission

We opened our shop in the hopes of offering a different type of wine store. Our goal is to educate our customers on the joys of trying new wines and reaching beyond the standard varietals. Our plan is centered on the idea of sampling as many wines as possible and we are always willing to open a bottle for the enthusiast wanting to try something new. We feature many wines not seen in other area wine shops and can answer questions about wines and many of the offbeat wine regions of the United States. With over 300 types of sparklers, with an emphasis on the Champagne region of France, we have one of the largest in stock selections in the country.

Our goal is to be the “Cheers” of the Cincinnati wine scene, where everyone is comfortable coming in to learn about wine appreciation and meet others who share their interests. We also have plans to open a dedicated tasting room within our first year of operation.

Please join us for wine tastings every Friday, 5:30-8:30 pm. We vary the number of wines based on the average price of the bottles. Price for the Friday tasting is always $15.00.
